I see the whole affair as just a trick. Some of the lefty comments above bear this out.
The trick:
The unfortunate victim WAS checked out by WaPo. His shortcommings WERE know to them, that's why they chose him. He was set up for the fall so they could discredit the right wing blogosphere.
Mission accomplished:
See, I toldja...Gotcha!!!! Them righities is noth'n but a buncha crooks and liers just like BUSH!
This incident is another transparent view into the the failure of communism and how it really works.
